The Morning of Your Wedding: What to Expect When Getting Ready
Your wedding morning is where the magic begins. It’s the quiet before the whirlwind, the laughter with your bridesmaids, and that unforgettable moment when you finally step into your dress. It should feel calm, joyful, and beautifully organised – a chance to start your day in the best possible way you can.
As a bridal hair and makeup artist, my role isn’t just to style your hair and enhance your beauty. It’s about creating a luxury getting-ready experience that feels stress-free and unforgettable. Here’s what you can expect on the morning of your wedding.
My Arrival ✨
I travel to you – whether that’s your home, a hotel suite, or your dream wedding venue – with my professional kit ready to go. Think glowing skin products, luxury hair tools, and every pin, spray, and brush you could possibly need. My timings are carefully planned, so you can relax knowing that everything is taken care of.
Setting the Scene
The wedding morning has its own special energy. Sometimes it’s calm and serene, other times it’s filled with excited chatter and champagne toasts. I work with the atmosphere you want – whether that’s soft music and stillness, or laughter with your bridesmaids.
All I ask for is a little space with a table and natural lighting preferably near a window – then you can leave the rest to me. Most venues have this set up already but if you’re getting ready at home or a different venue we can discuss this in detail to make for a seamless morning when I’m setting up.
The Bridal Party Schedule
To keep everything smooth, I’ll usually start with bridesmaids and mums first. Depending on what we have decided on with hair it’s possible that I would start with the Brides Hair Prep. Once your hair is prepped I would then start with any other members of your bridal party. This way, they can enjoy the morning and still be picture-perfect when it’s time for photographs.
I always leave the bride until later in the schedule – so your look is fresh, polished, and flawless for when you step into your dress. I also build in buffer time, so even if someone runs off to find earrings or the photographer needs a quick moment, we never feel rushed.
I always ensure that hair and makeup for the entire bridal party is finished at least one hour before your ceremony. This allows plenty of time to get dressed without any rush, enjoy those final moments, and leave room for touch-ups before you walk down the aisle.
The Bride’s Transformation
This is my favourite part of the day. Once it’s your turn, the whole room seems to pause a little. It’s where your chosen look from the trial comes to life – skin glowing, eyes softly enhanced, hair styled ✨
It’s not just about makeup and hair. It’s about creating a calm, grounding moment for you – one where you can breathe, sip your drink, and feel truly taken care of.
The Final Touches
Before I leave, I make sure everything is perfect: your veil is secure, flyaways smoothed, and a little lipstick is ready for later. I don’t just stop at the styling – I stay until you’re absolutely confident and feeling your best, so when you walk out that door, you feel radiant and unstoppable.
My Top Tips for Brides
Eat breakfast – even if it’s something light, it’ll keep you going.
Wear a robe or button-down shirt – no tricky necklines when it’s time to change.
Have a little kit nearby – tissues, lip colour, safety pins.
Take a moment for yourself – step back, look around, and soak it all in.
The Calm Before “I Do”
Your wedding morning sets the tone for the whole day. With the right people around you, it becomes one of the most memorable and meaningful parts of your wedding. My role is to take away the stress, bring a little calm, and ensure you feel your most beautiful – inside and out.
If you’d love your morning to feel calm, luxurious, and completely stress-free, I’d love to hear from you. ✨
