Bronzed Beauty at The George in Rye: Emily’s Effortless Bridal Glow

Emily has been a client of mine for a good few years now, and in that time, we’ve created some truly memorable nail looks — including the time we added tiny pictures of her (now) husband to her nails! She’s always kept me on my toes with her creative ideas, and when she asked me to be her wedding makeup artist, of course, I said yes in a heartbeat.

The Brief: Sun-Kissed, Effortless Glow

Emily’s vision was clear: “I want to look like I’ve just come off the beach — like I’ve caught the sun.” And that’s exactly what we created. Her bridal look was warm, radiant, and effortless, as if she’d been glowing from within all day.

Hero product:

☀️ BareMinerals Bronzer in ‘Warmth’ — a golden, glowing base that gave her skin that sun-touched finish she wanted.

I paired it with:

💫 Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation for a soft, skin-like base

🌸 Bobbi Brown Face Base to prep and hydrate

✨ Charlotte Tilbury Hypnôse Pop Shot on the eyes for a soft shimmer

👁️ Plenty of individual lashes and mascara for fluttery, natural definition

💋 Emily finished her look with a blend of her favourite MAC lip liners and lipsticks — a personalised touch that felt completely her.

The Hair, The Dress, The Details

Hair was by the brilliant Victoria – The Indie Hair Stylist, who styled Emily’s hair into a dreamy half-up, half-down look that complemented the laid-back elegance of the day perfectly.

Emily’s bouquet featured beautiful dahlias — some lovingly grown by her mum, which made it all the more special. When the flowers come in to room on your wedding morning it’s such a beautiful moment I love this part so much!

And of course, we couldn’t skip the nails. For her wedding manicure, we went for a timeless bridal look using Biosculpture Gel in ‘Rose’ as the base — a classic soft pink — and delicately placed a half-moon of mini pearls on each nail. Understated, elegant, and very Emily.

The Venue: The George in Rye

Emily and Sam tied the knot at one of my all-time favourite venues: The George in Rye. They held their ceremony in the beautiful church around the corner and returned to celebrate with their guests in that spectacular ballroom!
